I will not muddy the water by time from switch on which can be another 15 seconds before anything happens so let’s give a time from ready to print to print for say a 400 word page in draft mode using everyday printing settings its around 10 seconds. The test that I feel is most relevant is time to first page out as this includes the time taken for data to be sent from the PC or Mobile device and for the unit to interpret it before moving the paper through. 8.5PPM and 20PPM are quoted the first for an ISO image and the second for a test page, while both have the rider ‘up to’ they will be in ‘draft’ mode but that is still black and quite readable. While claimed printing speeds can now be achieved two figures are given and even for me I need to think how these are relevant. Like most modern units this has a standby mode as well being able to switch off but you need to look for the message at shut down time. Paper is placed face forward in the rear tray and is delivered on the pull out shelf face up.
